Workshop for ideas and details about putting together a crowdfunding campaign.
Find out what backers look for and expect, and get tips on following through
with backers when your campaign is funded.
Presenters:
Amy Young (with help
from her film production team and her backers) ran a Kickstarter campaign that
met 100% of its funding goal, $26,800 towards production for a documentary
film. Amy will give a brief overview of the state of crowdfunding, and talk
about the process of putting together her campaign. Amy works for a
computational physics group at the Materials Research Lab, and does videography
part-time at Illinois Wesleyan University.
For his virtual
letterpress iPad app, John Bonadies raised $39,495 on Kickstarter. John will
talk about promoting a crowdfunding campaign and the challenges he found in
fulfilling the backer rewards, particularly to overseas backers. John has 25+
years of creative and marketing experience management for agency and technology
companies. His clients include the School of Music at the University of
Illinois.
Jeff Adams has backed a
dozen projects for films, games, apps, and books on Kickstarter and IndieGogo.
Jeff will give feedback on campaigns he’s selected, from a backer’s
perspective. Jeff is an independent software developer with previous local
positions at Wolfram Research and Precision Graphics.
