Dr. Susan Seestrom, Associate Laboratories Director, for Advanced Science and Technology (AS&T) and Chief Research Officer at Sandia National Laboratories
Sandia National Laboratories has been a leader in national security and technology innovation since 1949 through its science and engineering laboratory. Dr. Susan Seestrom, named a 2020 fellow of the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for her pathbreaking work in nuclear physics, most notable using ultra cold neutrons, shares insight about the important work Sandia Nationals Labs conducts. Dr. Seestrom is the first woman to head the Physics Division and the Weapons Physics Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and she is the first woman to chair the Department of Energy’s Nuclear Science Advisory Committee and the National Science Foundation.
