The
Statt Group's lab at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Department of Materials Science and Engineering strives to advance the development of new functional polymeric materials for applications in transportation, energy and health. For example, for self-healing and sensing polymers, it is important to investigate how exactly are macroscopic forces transmitted to the microscopic scale in heterogeneous materials. We use computational and theoretical tools to gain a fundamental understanding of those microscopic properties and processes. This knowledge will help in designing new and improved polymeric materials.
