Web Sites in an Academic Unit: Leveraging a Primary Site Environment for Sub-Sites and Micro-Sites

So your unit has a website. What about department X? What about strategic initiative Y? Affiliated group Z? Project ZZ? Lab ZZZ? When contracting recently with a firm to architect, design, and build the College’s new website, we included in the specifications the need to provide an easy, low-cost path for affiliated entities to spin up a site in our environment in a way that can leverage the investments made in our primary website.

Presenters: After earning a graduate degree in technology-based instruction from the University of Illinois, Ryan Thomas joined the College of Education as a developer and system administrator.
