Jenny Amos (Bioengineering) discusses several reasons why she prefers teaching in active learning classrooms, and describes the kinds of learning behaviors she has observed that seem to contribute to better learning outcomes, such as students asking more questions, being more engaged, and bonding during class. Some student bonds continue even years afterwards. Active learning classrooms are not really designed for lecturing but are better for student collaboration and discussion.
