The Illinois Extension
Pollinator Pockets Program was started in 2016 with the goal of assisting
gardeners in planting and designing more pollinator-friendly landscapes.
Since its inception, the program has grown to include over 220 Pollinator Pockets
across 4 states. Join Extension Horticulture Educator, Ryan Pankau, as he
discusses the importance of pollinators, pollinator decline and how the
Pollinator Pocket Program has helped to address these issues. Ryan will
also talk about the plant-pollinator relationship and show examples of how you
can design beautiful Pollinator Pockets to support native insect populations.
He will also discuss some insect-friendly management practices you can
apply to a Pollinator Pocket or any garden space new or old.
