흔히 인문학적 교양은 현대인의 상식이자 상상력의 원천으로 취급된다. 그러나 과학적 교양은 재미없는 전문지식으로 취급된다. 이 강연은 과학적 발견이 인간에게 주는 성찰과 과학이 제공하는 상상력에 대해 이야기한다.

Liberal arts is considered modern common sense and source of imagination. Science, however, is considered boring professional knowledge. This speech reveals what kind of introspection and imagination can science offer to mankind.

발표자 소개:
김상욱은 KAIST에서 물리학 박사 학위를 취득한 후, POSTECH, KAIST, 독일 막스플랑크연구소 연구원, 서울대 연구교수를 거쳐 2004년부터 부산대 물리교육과 교수로 재직중이다. 양자물리학과 관련한 첨단연구를 수행하고 있으며, 55편의 SCI 논문을 출판하였다.
"영화는 좋은데 과학은 싫다고?"를 집필하였으며, 아태이론물리연구센터 과학문화위원을 맡고 있다. 영화 주간지 "무비위크"에 '무비+' 칼럼을 연재하고 있다.

About Speaker:
Sangwook Kim earned a doctorate degree in physics at KAIST. He was a researcher at POSTECH, KAIST, Max-Planck Institute, and a research professor at SNU. He has been working as a professor in physics education department of PNU since 2004. His main research interests are related to quantum physics. As a leading physicist, he has published 55 SCI research papers. He is the writer of a book 'Like Movie, But Dislike Science?' and a member of Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics. Also he writes 'Movie+' columns in 'Movieweek', a weekly magazine.
