Prairie Paper Part 1

Over the past two years, the University of Illinois Library Conservation Department has been collaborating with the Fresh Press paper-making studio to develop an environmentally friendly paper that will meet the needs of book conservators, fill the void in the case paper market, and help further the mission at Fresh Press to change the paper supply chain from forest to farm. This presentation will describe the process of designing “Prairie Paper,” from sustainability to testing protocols and recipe development.
