The Office of Online Program is pleased to announce a new series featuring advanced doctoral student research in the College of Education. This Emerging Scholars Student Speaker Series, co-sponsored by the EPOL Graduate Student Advisory Committee, provides a venue for students to present their work and to share advice and support to other students about the research process.

Women Empowered: The Purkal Project – Weaving the Fibers of Transformation Through Education and Entrepreneurship in Rural Northern India: Global Studies Doctoral Research Design and Practice

Carol Dimopolous, new EdD in Global studies, will present her dissertation research on the human experience of the participants of The Purkal Project, change-makers in social innovation that provides free, world-class education and vocational development in an economically challenged rural community in the Himalayan region of Northern India. In this presentation, she will also provide practical advice on how to the components of her dissertation came together, how her research questions developed, and other challenges she navigated through her doctoral journey as an online student.
