This webcast seeks to address food insecurity by featuring the art and science of
Black farming. We will focus on Pembroke Township, located within Kankakee County, because it
is the largest and oldest (over 150 years) African-American agricultural
community in Illinois. We bring together experts in farming, holistic
health, multi-disciplinary art and community organizing to discuss innovative
solutions around hunger in the U.S. Podcast guests will also discuss innovative
programs at UIUC such as farm robots (FarmBots) and the Artificial Intelligence for Future Agricultural Resilience,
Management, and Sustainability (AIFARMS).
