Description: What makes an image more powerful than others? Maybe it was a heartfelt moment captured in time. Or a vibrant color that caught your eye. Whatever it might be, we know a great photo when we see one. In this workshop, we’ll discuss different approaches and techniques to create engaging imagery with intention behind each frame. Together, we can continue telling the Illinois story in a captivating light through photography.
Bio: Michelle Hassel is the Senior Photographer for Public Affairs at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. With several years of experience working as a university photographer, she enjoys capturing the incredible work that happens on campus and the inspiring individuals who bring it to life. Within the office of Public Affairs, her main responsibilities include managing the campus image database, creating content for university social media platforms, taking studio portraits of faculty and staff for website updates and awards ceremonies, shooting for News Bureau releases, and covering events for various departments and units across campus. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Jonathan, and their dog, Molly.
