Professor Marni Boppart describes her research in skeletal muscle regrowth. By injecting cells that support blood vessel growth into muscles depleted by inactivity, researchers say they are able to help restore muscle mass lost as a result of immobility. Boppart is an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a member of the Extracellular Vesicle Imaging and Therapy Group at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.
