Description: There are many types of boxes- some, like prison, are made of concrete. Others are built around illusions and preconceptions. American history has been a dialectic between exclusion of blacks from American society, and their attempts to get in. The civil rights movement was and is part of that struggle to be included in society, a struggle which continues to today. In this lecture, Abdul Alkalimat talks about the organization of six civil rights organizations in terms of time, space and force.
