Resources for Researchers - October 2025 - "Illinois Computes Research Notebooks"

October’s Office Hours featured the Illinois Computes Research Notebooks (ICRN), presented by Christopher Heller and the NCSA team. ICRN is a free, browser-based research environment offering JupyterLab, RStudio, and VS Code Server to all UIUC NetID holders, providing immediate access to high-performance computing resources, including NVIDIA A100 GPUs. Integrated with the Campus Cluster, it allows seamless transitions between data analysis, visualization, and large-scale computation. Live demonstrations showed how ICRN simplifies AI model training and statistical analysis while ensuring secure, scalable, and user-friendly research computing. The session underscored Illinois Computes’ mission to make advanced computing accessible, collaborative, and cost-free for the entire research community.
