Abstract: Fractional quantum anomalous Hall (FQAH) insulators are topologically ordered phases emerging in fractionally filled Chern bands at zero magnetic field. The recent realization of these phases in tunable 2D materials motivates new theoretical questions about proximate phases and phase transitions that are inaccessible in conventional quantum Hall systems at large magnetic fields. A key difference between FQH and FQAH is that anyons in FQAH are not confined into cyclotron orbits but instead have nontrivial band dispersion. Doping the FQAH insulator therefore induces a nonzero density of mobile charged anyons, which can form many-body states of their own. I will begin with a review of our results for Abelian anyon fluids, and then demonstrate how the intuition distilled from the Abelian case fails dramatically for the non-Abelian case due to the new ingredient of non-invertible fusion rules. This additional structure predicts novel chiral superconductors in the vicinity of a putative zero-field Moore-Read state.
