“Advanced Neurovascular MR Imaging: from Marco- to Microvascular Imaging”
Monday, April 28 | 4 – 5 PM
Abstract: Neurovascular imaging is essential for studying the vascular pathophysiology of cerebrovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases. Our lab has a long-standing interest in developing novel non-contrast-enhanced MRI techniques, particularly for MR angiography, perfusion, and quantitative hemodynamics. In this talk, I will present our latest advancements in neurovascular imaging, spanning from macrovascular to microvascular levels. These developments may offer promising new tools for investigating cerebral vascular diseases and Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.
Biography: Dr. Lirong Yan is an Associate Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering at Northwestern University. Before joining Northwestern in 2022, she was an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Southern California for six years. Dr. Yan directs the Laboratory for Neurovascular Imaging Technology and Translation (NITT) at Northwestern University. The research of Dr. Yan’s lab focuses on developing novel MRI techniques for neurovascular imaging (e.g., arterial spin labeling). Dr. Yan is also interested in translating advanced MRI technologies into a variety of clinical applications, such as cerebrovascular disease (stroke, intracranial atherosclerosis, arteriovenous malformation, and moyamoya disease) and neurodegenerative disease (Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and aging).
