We must always think about peace. But we will not get information unless we want to know. Without knowing, we cannot think or act. Therefore, I have decided to continue to make replicas of glass bottles exposed to the atomic bomb using modern technology in order to encourage young people to think about peace. Nanae is a third-generation atomic-bomb survivor born in Nagasaki. She grew up learning about peace and seeing the remains of the atomic-bombed city from a young age, and hearing stories about that time from her grandmother. She felt that the silent-prayer sirens on August 9, which were common in Nagasaki, were not heard in Tokyo, and this made her feel uncomfortable. This made her started the project “Vase to Pray” with the idea of creating an opportunity for the younger generation to learn about the war and the atomic bombing.
