From Spencer Keralis
In this hybrid talk/workshop, Dr. Sanders discussed her
approach to comics, specifically creating diary comics and imagining
"gutter futures." She guided the audience through a 4-panel
exercise that facilitates the creation of a diary comic with an imagined
future.
Dr.
Sasha Sanders (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor in Performance Studies
in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Texas.
Dr. Sanders examines what she defines as “arresting moments”, moments that
disorient one’s sense of self and place forcing them to question belonging,
betweenness, and the possibilities of becoming. Her embodied, reflexive
approach to Comic Studies intersects with Performance Studies, Critical
Cultural Studies, and Women’s and Gender Studies.
