The 2022 Verizon Data Breach Incident Report shows that humans are involved in breaches more than 80% of the time. Whether that involves someone clicking on a phishing link, or an employee reusing the same password in multiple places, cybersecurity training and awareness can help manage this "human risk" by teaching people how to protect themselves and the university. In 2021, the Cybersecurity Training and Awareness team in Technology Services launched required cybersecurity training for Urbana-Champaign and Springfield employees.
