HIPAA House of Horrors
Thursday, June 9, 2:30pm-3:15pm
Do
you deal with health-related data? Most people assume that all health
data is covered under HIPAA, but that's not actually the case. In this
presentation we will cover what HIPAA is, what regulations apply to
health-related data, and University policies for handling health related
data. We'll talk about various scenarios of health-related data use at
the University and welcome your questions regarding your health-related
data use.
What you will learn
Gain
an understanding of when HIPAA applies, the difference between
Protected Health Information (PHI) and Individually Identifiable Health
Information (IIHI), when a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is needed,
and how to safely handle health information.
