Universal Translators: Interplanetary Speed Networking

Ever feel like you’re speaking Klingon while your colleagues are speaking Vulcan? Or do you feel adrift in outer space? Come to the session where we bridge the gaps between departments at warp speed! We’re bringing together the Classroom Command Centers, the Cybersecurity Sentries, the Research Mavericks, and even the folks who showed up in Jedi robes for a round of fast-paced “diplomatic missions.” We’ll help you find your Next Generation of collaborators and prove that when we unite our teams, the Final Frontier of IT doesn’t seem so daunting.

This session will be a fast-paced, “speed dating” style workshop to maximize the number of people you will meet. Each round will have a new prompt such as “What’s the ‘tribble’ of your department (the small issue that keeps multiplying until it breaks the system)?” or “What is your ‘Kobayashi Maru’? (The IT problem you face that feels impossible to win, but you keep trying anyway)”. Come prepared with your contact info ready to share (business cards, Linkedin handles, or just make sure to remember your email address). We will provide you with a Captain’s Log. For every person you meet, collect one “Resource” (an email or a LinkedIn handle) and one “Stellar Fact” (something cool about their new contact).
