CLIC webinar: "Comprehensible Input: Why, What, and How"

Description: What's CI? Why is it crucial for language acquisition? And how do teachers implement it in the classroom?! The webinar will begin with an introduction into Dr. Krashen's Comprehensible Input Hypothesis and contrast Comprehensible Input (CI) teaching with traditional or grammar-based language instruction. The presenter (a seasoned CI teacher, who actually is a product of CI instruction) will then describe practical ways to deliver comprehensible input to world language students, applicable to all ages. Participants will learn about techniques such as CardTalk, MovieTalk, and Visual Lectures.

Presenter: AnneMarie Chase is a Spanish teacher at Douglas High School, in Minden, Nevada.  She holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Masters degree in Teaching Spanish from the University of Southern Oregon in collaboration with the Universidad de Guanajuato, in Mexico. She is the recipient of the Professional Language Association of Nevada's 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award. She is a passionate student of language acquisition theory and believes that personalized and compelling Comprehensible Input is the key ingredient for language acquisition.
