Dr. Jean Starobin works as a consultant for the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign. Her work focuses on developing strategies and practices to improve online student engagement, success, sense of belonging and community. Additionally, Jean is an adjunct faculty in the College of Education at the University of Florida teaching Educational Outcomes and Coaching Models for Student Success for the Online Student Personnel Program as well as a career coach for Online undergraduate business students at the University of Florida.
Previously she worked for the Division of Continuing Studies at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. There she provided leadership and guidance for the Online Undergraduate Initiative identifying opportunities and developing strategies to advance academic achievement, student success and persistence, metrics and trends, and providing research and benchmarking. Jean has over 20 years of experience in higher education, online learning, assessment, and student affairs.
Dr. Starobin received her B.S. in Biology from McGill University, M.S. in Botany from the University of Massachusetts, M.S. in Decision and Information Science from the University of Florida, and Ed.D. in Higher Educational Administration with an emphasis on student success and retention from the University of Florida.
