Chai Wai Event- "Reality Bites: Colorism, Gender, and Class in 'Indian Matchmaking'"

On October 20, 2020 the International and Area Studies Library hosted the second installment of our Chai Wai panel discussion series on Race, Social Justice, and Ways of knowing. This lively online panel discussion brought together three experts to discuss issues of colorism, gender, caste, and class through the lens of the popular Netflix series "Indian Matchmaking". Featured speakers included Dr. Parul Bhandari, Preeti Shekar, and Dr. Anuja Agrawal. The conversation was moderated by South Asian Studies & Global Popular Culture Librarian, Mara Thacker.
